Abstract | A MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) receiver using an MDSA(Minimum Distance Searching Algorithm) is provided to reduce the volume of operations by mapping the output value of a linear receiver to a reference bit, searching for peripheral bits having the minimum hamming distance from the reference bit, and establishing a peripheral bit having the minimum distance difference as a new reference bit among the peripheral bits. A MIMO receiver comprises a matrix(10), an initial linear receiver(20) and an MDSA(50). The matrix converts Rx signals, received through more than two Rx antennas, into vector symbols. The initial linear receiver creates a reference bit with the vector symbols received from the matrix. The MDSA searches for peripheral bits near to the reference bit, establishes a peripheral bit having the minimum distance difference as a new reference bit among the peripheral bits, and decodes a reference bit having the minimum distance value into the final symbol. The MDSA comprises the first MDS unit(30) and the second MDS unit(40). Using the minimum hamming distance and the minimum distance difference, the first MDS unit detects peripheral bits which are adjacent to the reference bit. The second MDS unit obtains the final symbol among symbols having the minimum distance value. |
