Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the wrapping of a printing medium around a roller by disposing medium detecting means near respective roller pairs and stopping the operation of a device when the detecting means provided to a fixing part does not generate the prescribed detection output at the time of passing the printing medium in the fixing part and discharge part by using the respective roller pairs. CONSTITUTION:The printing medium PP is passed successively through a toner image forming part 2a contg. a photosensitive drum 20, the fixing part 2b contg. a heat roller 27a and a roller 27b facing said roller and the discharge part 3 contg. two sets of the roller pairs 30 and 31 and is then discharged to the outside of the device. The 1st medium detecting means 32 connected to the control part 4 is provided near the roller pair 31 in the discharge part 3 in this constitution and in addition, the 2nd medium detecting means 28 is also provided near the roller pairs 27a and 27b in the fixing part 2b. These means are connected to the control part 4. The timing for the passage of the medium PP after the fixing is controlled in such a manner and the device is stopped when the output is not generated from the means 28 even after lapse of the time.
