PURPOSE: To obtain an evaporator having a surface film exhibiting sterilization effect for a long term by coating a sterilization agent with a resin film having different water dissolving interval, admixing a processing liquid for forming the surface film and then dispersing the coated sterilization agent into the surface skin of an evaporator. CONSTITUTION: A sterilization agent 1 coated with a film 2 of synthetic resin, or the like, having different water dissolving interval is scattered into a surface treatment film 3 formed on the surface of aluminum alloy 4. The surface treatment film 3 is imparted with hydrophilicity in order to prevent lowering of capacity of an evaporator by draining condensate on the surface thereof quickly and to prevent scattering of condensate from the evaporator or casing. When the surface of the film 3 is washed with condensate, the film components dissolve to exhibit hydrophilicity and the sterilization agent 1 dissolves into water depending on the water solubility of the coating 2. Consequently, the internal sterilization agent 1 is exposed and generation of mold or bacteria causing odor can be prevented.
