PURPOSE:To obtain the after-image effect with simple constitution by outputting an input video signal and the input video signal subject to delay for a required field period by a field memory switchingly at a prescribed horizontal period or a prescribed field period. CONSTITUTION:A video signal is fed to one fixed contact 7a of a switch circuit 7 via a delay circuit 6. A switch timing pulse generating circuit 15 generates a switch timing pulse synchronously with a horizontal synchronizing signal and a vertical synchronizing signal to throw a moving contact 7c of the switch circuit 7. The input video signal retarded for a required field period by a field memory 4 in the output signal represents the picture of the required preceding field at reproduction at a required horizontal period or a required field period. Thus, in reproducing a moving picture, the picture by the input video signal retarded by a required field by the field memory 4 is sensed visually as an after-image of a moving picture.
