Abstract | PURPOSE:To effectively utilize left/right blanking regions by using a display device whose width is wider than the aspect ratio of 3:4 and displaying the reception state onto an idle region in displaying a video image whose aspect ratio is 3:4 onto the display device. CONSTITUTION:The display device whose width is wider than that corresponding to the aspect ratio of 3:4 on the screen is provided, and a television video signal whose aspect ratio is 3:4 is received and its video image is displayed on the screen of the display device and the reception state is displayed on the blanking region where no video image is displayed on the screen of the display device. Thus, in observing a conventional video image software on the wide display device, display is attained without losing the information of the video software and the screen is utilized effectively. |
