PURPOSE:To perform editing operation and copying operation at the same time by providing an image forming means which is provided to a copying machine and mounted on a reception part and performs editing operation according to position information from a storage medium, and controls a copying process based on control information to form the image of an original. CONSTITUTION:In trimming mode, only the part of an image corresponding to a rectangular area 154 determined by four specified points P1(Xd1, Y1), P3(X1, Y2), P2(X2, Y2), and P4(X2, Y1) is left and the image of the remaining parts is erased, so an erasure lamp, i.e. plural LED elements 158 and 158 in an LED array 46 are turned on only except in this area 154. Then the storage medium is detached from an editor 122 and mounted on a main copying device, and an original is mounted on the original platen of the copying machine with an original surface to be copied up, and a copy button is pressed, so that plural operators can performs simultaneously editing operation.
