Abstract PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the titled copolymer having excellent heat resistance, fluidity and colorability, by subjecting methacrylamide and a specific monomer, e.g. styrene, etc., in a specific proportion to precipitation polymerization in an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:(A) 5-50pts.wt. methacrylamide and (B) 95-50pts.wt. one or monomers selected from styrene, methyl methacrylate and acrylonitrile are subjected to precipitation polymerization in an organic solvent, preferably 5-8C saturated hydrocarbon, 3-7C primary - tertiary alcohol or 2-5C dialkyl ether to afford the aimed copolymer. The content of the styrene in the compo nent (B) is preferably 50-100wt.%. The organic solvent and monomer are used in amounts, preferably at 10/1-1/1 ratio.
