Abstract PURPOSE:To increase abrasion resistance and elongate the life of a dredging pump by including a matrix formed of an abrasion resisting rubber or polyurethane, high specific gravity powders dispersed in the matrix and uniformly dispersed ceramic particles. CONSTITUTION:A matrix 1 is composed of an abrasion resisting rubber which is formed of polyurethane or natural rubber vulcanized in the open steam process. The matrix 1 is uniformly mixed with metal carbide 2 such as WC, NbC and Mo C, and fine spherical or fine polygonal ceramics 3 of Al2O3, ZrB2, SiC, ZrO2, Bi3N4. Thus, as ceramics are uniformly dispersed, abrasion resistance is as so remarkably improved as to provide a material for an impeller, casing liner and suction and discharge pipe liner which can elongate the life of the dredging pump.
