Abstract | PURPOSE:To satisfactorily confirm the object and to grasp the condition of the video camera by making the display white at the background darker than a certain level and making the device black at the background lighter than the level and securing always the sufficient variable density ratio. CONSTITUTION:When an object (i) in a dark background (h) is picked up, in the picture in the electronic view finder, a white display (character, symbol, etc.) (j) appears. When the background comes to be light, a comparator 4 detects that the level of a signal output (b) from an image pickup part 1 is white, a control signal (g) is outputted, a displaying signal white black change-over part 22 is operated, the displaying signal is changed from white to black and a person + white background + black displaying and the displaying 30B of the high variable density ratio are executed. In case of the person + light object + dark background 40, a background lightness sampling signal generating part 23 generates the sampling pulse only at the circumference of the displaying position, a sampling part 5 samples the picture signal (background signal), only the lightness in the vicinity of the position of the displaying signal in the video signal is passed to the comparator 4 and a white displaying 40B in the black background is obtained. |
