Abstract PURPOSE:To quickly measure a colloid index in real time by measuring the instantaneous flow rate of a sample liquid before and after clogging of filter paper and evaluating the decrease of the flow rate by the clogging at the measured instantaneous flow rate. CONSTITUTION:An adjusting head 4 is lowered by the instruction for starting the measurement, by which a filter body 16 is interposed between a stage 10 and the head 4; at the same time, an inlet valve 6 is opened so that the sample liquid introduced through a sample inlet 5a into a sample inflow pipe 5 is passed through the filter paper 15 under the prescribed pressure and is then admitted into a discharge pipe via a frame body 14 and a passage hole 11. The instantaneous flow rate V1 of the sample liquid passing the paper 5 is measured by a flow meter 19. The measured flow rate V1 is stored into a control arithmetic unit 9. The sample liquid is filtered continuously for the specified time under the same pressure, by which the pulverized particles in the sample liquid are stuck to the paper 15. The instantaneous flow rate V2 of the sample liquid passing the paper 5 is measured 19 after the paper 15 is clogged with the particles. The measured flow rate V2 is stored 9. The colloid index is calculated from the prescribed equation by the flow rates V1, V2. The index is recorded 20 and displayed 21.
