Abstract PURPOSE:To fall and remove residual toner without scattering by providing a member which deforms by voltage impression near a cleaning blade and allowing it to abut on the cleaning blade during the deformation. CONSTITUTION:Toner T1 on an image carrier 1 after development is transferred onto a transfer material 9 by a corona discharger 8. The remaining toner T2 is cleaned with the cleaning blade 13 and carried to a waste toner container which is not shown in a figure by a collection roller 11 and a conveyor roller 12. The residual toner which is not removed by falling and paper powder from the transfer material 9 stay at the rubbing part T3 between the blade 13 and image carcier 1. Plural filmy high polymer piezoelectric materials are stacked near the side of the back surface 13a of the blade 13, and an elastic body 14a fitted atop of an arm 14 having an electrode of conductive paste, etc., is arranged on both surfaces. When a proper voltage is impressed between the electrodes on both surfaces of the arm 14, the arm 14 oscillates as shown by a broken line and contacts the blade 13 to transmit strain. Consequently, effective cleaning is carried out.
