Abstract | PURPOSE:To enable the accurate speed measurement of a running body by using a TV camera, by calculating a speed on the basis of the moving distance of the predetermined reference point of the running body. CONSTITUTION:A TV camera 1 is arranged at a position capable of catching a running body such as an automobile from the part above the advance direction line thereof. The reference point of the running body obtained from the TV camera 1, for example, the image signal of the tail lamp of the automobile is binarized by a binarization circuit 20. This binarized image signal is sent to a reference detection circuit 30 being a position detecting means and the coordinates value corresponding to the position of the tail lamp is deteced to be stored in a coordinates memory circuit 40. Subsequently, the coordinates value of the reference point is similarly stored in the memory circuit 40 after a predetermined time and the speed of the automobile is calculated from said memory content and the height information of the reference point. By this method, the accurate speed measurement of the running body can be performed by using the TV camera. |
