Summary:PURPOSE:To aim at a complete combustion of particles accumulated on a ceramic filter by heat out of an electric heater, by installing the electric heater that is solidly sintered to a base plate as one body with ceramic and conductive materials combined. CONSTITUTION:When an air hole is narrowed in size by particles collected on the surface of a filter 6, lead members 44 and 48 are all connected to a power source, by way of example, and a resistance member 35 is heated to some extent due to electric resistance. For this reason, the surface of the filter 6 is heated and the collected particles are all set in combustion, turning to an ignition point, whereby all particles sticking to the surface of the rearward filter 6 are burned and thus removed. Doing like this, the resistance member is heated in succession and therefore combustion extends over the whole body of the filter 6, thus all particles accumulated on the surface can be removed.
