Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a screw press dehydrator with which dehydrated cake contg. uniform and low moisture is obtd. by consisting the same of the 1st screw on a sludge feed port side which delivers sludge to a cake discharge port while dehydrating the same and the 2nd screw which is reversed in the winding and rotating direction of screw vanes. CONSTITUTION:The sludge conveyed by a screw 7 is deposited in the part where there are no vanes. The sludge is compacted by the difference in the rotating speeds of both screws 7 and 9 then the sludge is exactly filled between the screw vanes 16 and 16 of the succeeding 2nd screw 9. The winding and rotating directions of the screw vanes 15, 16 are reversed with the screws 7 and 9 and therefore the direction where the cake is transferred by the screw 7 is V1 while said direction is inverted to V2 by the screw 9. The sludge is therefore strongly forced between the vanes 16 and 16. The sludge is compacted by the above-mentioned difference in the transfer speeds in the juncture of the screw shafts 8, 10 having no vanes so that the sludge existing on the front surface of the vane 6 and the rear surface of the vane 16 is provided similarly and exactly with the compaction effect and is dehydrated. The sludge is further dehydrated by the torsional effect and strong shearing effect applied thereon by the directional change of the sludge arising when the sludge is transferred to the screw 9.
