PURPOSE:To enhance operational efficiency with an intertalk type sheet preparation system, in which a data processing device controls operation of a metal sheet processing machine, by displaying figures contained in a figure file until the number of pieces contained in a layout file becomes zero, wherein said layout file stores the name and number of figures. CONSTITUTION:A figure file 3 contains figures for products A-C to be made by metal sheet processing, while a layout file 2 stores the number of pieces for each of the products A-C. A processor 4 takes out a desired figure from the figure file and displays at the lower part of a display 1, and also displays the dimensions of sheet metal material at the upper part of the screen. The operator performs sheet preparation with a tablet table 1-1, whereon the sheet metal material is placed and drawn by a stylus pen according to A-1, A-2, A-3. The processor 4 subtracts the number of pieces prepared from the number stored in the layout file 2, and when zero is attained, the figure A on the screen is erased. Thereby the operator is permitted to continue his operation until the display informs him about the material out of stock, that will well ensure an enhanced operational efficiency for sheet preparation.
