Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate read errors of hole information by selecting the width of transmission holes for discriminating calibration cells in the rotating direction of a calibration cell mounting disc larger than the width of light transmission holes for detecting positions of calibration cells in the rotation direction. CONSTITUTION:Transmission holes 411-413, 421-424 for discriminating calibration cells are made wider in the transverse width in the rotating direction of a disc 52 than light transmission holes 401-403 for detecting the positions of calibration cells. The light passing through the holes 411-412, 421-423 is wider than the light from light emitting elements passing through the holes 401-403.
