Summary:PURPOSE:To titled cationically polymrizable composition capable of providing elastic tough paint films excellent in flexibility, softness, impact resistance and adhesion, prepared by adding a polyglycidyl ester of an 8-50 C aliphatic long- chain polybasic acid. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition is prepared by adding 2-40wt% polyglycidyl ester of an 8-50 C aliphatic long-chain polybasic acid as an essential component to a cationically polymerizable, energy ray-curable resin containing a compound (sensitizer) which, upon irradiation with energy rays, generates a polymerization-initiating catalyst. A preferable example of the above cationically polymerizable, energy ray-curable resin composition includes an epoxy resin composition which is converted into a polymer by cationic ring-opening polymerization of epoxy rings, and one example is a glycidyl ether, epoxy novolak resin. This composition is useful, particularly as a vehicle for printing inks and for use in paints, varnishes, etc.
