Abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive powdery resin having improved water absorption free from decomposition, by putting a predried powdery acrylate polymer in a dryer, preparing the titled polymer from a solution comprising an acrylate polymer without requiring grinding process. CONSTITUTION:An acrylate polymer, preferably a polymer obtained by reversed phase emulsion polymerization, etc. from a monomer having a partial neutralization degree of 50-90mol% is blended with powdery acrylate polymer which is predried in a dryer in such a way that a ratio of the polymer to water in the system becomes >=3/2, and the blend is dried in a dryer at drying temperature <=150 deg.C preferably in an inert gas atmosphere with stirring. No pretreatment is required at all, nor processes such as cutting, grinding, classification, etc. are needed. When the ratio of the polymer before the start of drying to water is<3/2, powdery polymer is not obtained and the polymer becomes granular or bulky. |
