Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the driving source while assuring an accurate printing by providing a motor serving as driving source for action of a hammer means and a printer to function concurrently. CONSTITUTION:The rotation of a motor 2 is transmitted to a type selection shaft 20 and a type wheel shift rotary shaft 26 to shift a type wheel block 14 vertically while turning it whereby a desired type is halted at the opposite position to a platen 17. At the same time, a cam 28 is turned through a carriage transference-hammer driving rotary shaft 27 to drive a hammer 31 so that a type wheel 13 is pressed against the platen 17 to print while a carriage 7 is transferred. As the shaft 27 turns by a cycle, a clutch is engaged between the motor 2 and the type selection shaft 20 and the type wheel shift rotary shaft 26 while a clutch is disengaged between the motor 2 and the shaft 27 thereby enabling the selection of a type at subsequent transference position of th carriage 7. Thus, the selection of the vertical shift position and rotary position of the type wheel block 14, the transference of the hammer and the pacing of the carriage 7 can be performed.
