Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the long term reliability of a juncture by clamping the bare optical fibers within mechanical splicing parts by >=2 clamping members varying in modulus of transverse elasticity in such a manner that the modulus of transverse elasticity is made smaller from the central part toward the end of the mechanical splicing parts. SOLUTION: The bare optical fibers 1-1 in the mechanical splicing parts are divided to >=2 parts of an optical fiber butt part 10 and optical fiber coating peeling marginal parts 9 from the center toward the ends of these parts. The bare optical fiber 1-1 part side of the optical fiber coating peeling marginal parts 9 is packed with an adhesive of the small modulus of transverse elasticity or is provided or clamped with a thin sheet having the small modulus of transverse elasticity. On the other hand, the optical fiber butt part 10 side is constituted by making the modulus of transverse elasticity of the members clamping the bare optical fibers 1-1 smaller than the modulus of transverse elasticity of the clamping members of the optical fiber coating peeling marginal parts 9. Namely, tensile force is shared by respective substrates 7-1, 7-2 in both clamping parts. |
