Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of an auxiliary operation means by changing the optical axis of an image-forming optical system with respect to an original and executing an auxiliary operation. SOLUTION: A original to be scanned 15, which is constituted of a transparent film, is irradiated with light from an illumination light source 11 through an illumination lens 13. Light transmitted through the original 15 to be scanned is image-formed as an original image on a linear image sensor 19 by an image forming-lens 17. The longitudinal direction of the linear image sensor 19 is arranged in a right angle direction of a paper face. The illumination light source 11, the illumination lens 13, the image forming-lens 17 and the linear image sensor 19 are arranged on the optical axis C of the image-forming lens 17 at prescribed intervals L1-L4. Then, auxiliary scanning is executed by turning the illumination light source 11, the illumination lens 13, the image-forming lens 17 and the linear image sensor 19 with a straight line which is orthogonal to one point on the optical axis C of the image forming-lens 17 as a center axis O, in a state where the original 15 to be scanned is set in a still state.
