Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image processing unit to obtain an image with high image quality even when part of the image is eliminated and the resulting image is expanded to convert a pattern size. SOLUTION: An image pickup face is moved relatively by a prescribed amount with respect to an object image formed on the image pickup face of a photoelectric conversion means 106 by a relative position moving means 101. An image signal obtained by the photoelectric conversion means 106 is stored in storage means 109-112 for every movement by the relative position moving means 101. A synthesis means 113 synthesizes image signals stored in the storage means to generate a synthesized image signal. Thus, the synthesized image signal is an image signal sampled at a high sampling frequency based on the movement by the relative position moving means 101 and a part of the synthesized image signal is segmented corresponding to an aspect ratio different from an aspect ratio of the image pickup face from the synthesis image signal to generate a segment image signal and picture element information of the segmented image signal is rearranged and in the case of converting the information to have a pattern size equal to the aspect ratio of the image pickup face so as not to reduce the precision of the image after the conversion.
