Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable apparatus which stabilizes an ultrasonic, wave transmission efficiency to an axle using a shear horizontal wave (SH). SOLUTION: A proper balance is gained by independent pressure adjusting valves 18 and 19 on a pressure piston cylinder 7 to press a probe generating an ultrasonic wave as shear wave onto the surface of an axle and a cylinder 12 for injecting a contact medium 26 under pressure. A constant contact film is formed in a fine gap (d) with the surface of the axle to stabilize an ultrasonic wave transmission efficiency. This also allows the use of the SH wave with a reduced slide resistance during scanning. |
