Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion reacting hybrid inflator capable of applying gas to a cushion member under a high reliability. SOLUTION: An inflator 10 is provided with a main chamber 18 filled with a large amount of stored inert gas. The chamber is also provided with a first heating device 32 and a second heating device 34 for use in heating stored gas. In order to provide a motion reacting characteristic, it is possible to ignite one of or the other or both of these heating devices 32, 34 in response to a degree of collision. The heated storing gas increases its pressure to rupture its chamber and expand a cushion member. In the case that both heating devices are ignited, it may also be applicable that a certain time delay is found between the ignitions.
