Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface coated cemented carbide-made cutting tool by forming a cutting edge ridge part of hardening coated layer of the coated cemented carbide tool forming a physical vapor-depositing coated layer constituted with single layer or multiple layers of one or more kinds among TiC, TiCN, TiCO, TiNO and TiCNO layers with a specific average layer thickness on the surface of the cemented carbide base body, with a laser beam or an electron beam irradiation heating surface layer. SOLUTION: The coated cemented carbide tool vapor-depositing the hardening coated layer of the single layer or the plural layers of one or more kinds of the Ti compound of TiC, TiN, TiCN, etc., at 2-20μm average layer thickness on the surface of the WC base cemented carbide alloy or TiCN base cermet, is used. At least the cutting edge ridge part crossed with a race face and a flank in the hardening coated layer of the coated cemented carbide tool is formed with the laser beam irradiation or the electron beam irradiation heating surface layer. By this constitution, since the hardening coated layer has excellent breakage resistance, even if not only the continuous and the intermittent cutting under ordinary condition, but also the intermittent cutting under high speed is executed, the breakage, chipping, etc., on the cutting edge are not caused.
