Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ornamental device capable of being used for appreciations by inserting stems and leaves of a flower arrangement or artificial flowers. SOLUTION: In this ornamental device, one or more of holes 3 for inserting ornamental pieces such as stems and leaves of a flower arrangement or artificial flowers are made in upward or obliquely upward direction on the outer surrounding surface of a base material 1 consisting of a ceramic, a synthetic resin, etc. The base material 1 is made of a porous ceramic having water absorbability. The base material 1 is obtained by mixing wastes such as garbages brought to pieces, granules, powdery states, etc., wood chips or saw dusts with a ceramic base material such as a clay to bring them in a kneaded or slurry state, shaping them in a predetermined shape, baking to burn out or reduce to ashes the waste within and on the ceramic material and forming voids in the burnt part, volume- contracted part by reducing to ashes, etc.
