Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent loss of ions to be analyzed from an analyzing area in a mass spectrograph. SOLUTION: The amplitude of the vibration of excited ions to be analyzed is restricted within a specified limit by deviating the frequency of an excited AC field to be applied to the ions to be analyzed by a specified amount from an inherent resonance frequency of the ions to be analyzed so as to prevent the excessive kinetic energy from accumulating and thus prevent the ions to be analyzed from dissipating from the analyzing area and the CID efficiency from lowering. Also a mass spectrograph 1 is provided with an exciting means 2 which makes the ions to be analyzed to cause vibration and produce a collision induction dissociation(CID), and generates and excited AC field of a frequency separated slightly from the coherent resonance frequency of the ions to be analyzed, applied to the ions to be analyzed, and the vibration of the ions to be analyzed is lowered to a specified amplitude or below. |
