Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic filing device and an electronic filing method capable of more easily registering additional information for image data useful for succeeding retrieval processing. SOLUTION: The image data for which the additional information should be registered is read in from an image read-in part 100, and telephone number information such as an area code, etc., related to the image data read in from the read-in part 100 is inputted by using an input part 101 on the input screen of a display part 105. Then, a control part 104 displays the regional information of a region specified according to the inputted telephone number information as a corresponding region selection screen on the display part 105. A user limits the displayed regional information on the screen to the regional information which should be registered together with the image data. The limited regional information is registered in an image accumulation part 103 together with the image data as the additional information.
