Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the characteristic to take out coated optical fibers from an optical cable. SOLUTION: This optical cable is constituted by housing an optical fiber unit 6 formed by roughly winding and bundling plural pieces of the coated optical fibers 4 with bundles 5 into a pipe 1. In such a case, a packing member 3 formed by using a material which is solid at ordinary temp. is arranged between the optical fiber unit 6 and the inside surface of the pipe 1. The packing member 3 is adhered at least partially to the inside surface of the pipe 1 by fusing. A tensile member 2 is embedded into the resin of the pipe 1. The packing member 3 supports the coated optical fibers 4 at approximately the center of the pipe 1 so as to prevent the direct contact with the inside surface of the pipe 1. The packing member 3 is integrated with the pipe 1 by partially sticking to its inside surface.
