Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool made of surface coated cemented carbide excellent in wear resistance and showing an excellent cutting performance over a long period. SOLUTION: This cutting tool made of surface coated cemented carbide is obtd., on the surface of a substrate of WC base cemented carbide or cemented carbide composed of TiCN base cermet, by forming a heated and oxidized vapor depositing hard layer having a structure in which fine Ti oxide and Al oxide are dispersedly distributed on a basis composed of (Ti, Al) NO and/or a heated and oxidized vapor depositing hard layer having a structure in which fine Ti oxide and Al oxide are dispersedly distributed on a basis composed of (Ti, Al) CNO by the average layer thickness of 0.5 to 15μm. |
