Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make saving of recording paper compatible with maintenance of image quality by selecting optionally whether or not reduction recording is made at a receiver side and properly selecting execution/non-execution of the reduction recording. SOLUTION: In a transmitter side facsimile equipment 1, a reduction permission reception means 20a receives designation as to whether or not reduction reception of transmission image data is permitted, and a reduction permission notice means 20b informs the instructed content to a receiver facsimile equipment 1. A reduction permission discrimination means 20c in the receiver side facsimile equipment 1 discriminates whether or not the reduction recording is permitted based on the notice. Furthermore, a reduction presence reception means 20d receives the designation as to whether or not the reduction recording of received image data is conducted. Only when the instruction of the reduction recording is accepted and the reduction recording is permitted, a printer section 17 reduces an image denoted by the received image data and prints out the image onto recording paper.
