Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mount contact pins on a horizontal modular jack at low cost by forming a plurality of the first and the second grooves on the outer side of a casing having a plug coupling hole and, then bending and inserting inverted- L type contact pins in the grooves. SOLUTION: A plurality of first grooves 14 are horizontally formed on a collar part 13 projected from one side of a casing 11 having a plug coupling hole 12 at the preset vertical intervals, and second grooves 18 are formed on the other side of the casing 11 via the collar part 13, so as to correspond to and be communicated to the first grooves 14. Then, a metallic plate is punched with a press, and L-shaped contact pins are formed so as to correspond to the number and intervals of the grooves 14 and 18, with the lower ends connected to each other via a connection bar. Then, the contact pins are inserted in a second grooves 2, and the leading ends thereof are projected to a position forward of the first grooves 14. Then, the leading ends of the pins are bent along a horizontal direction and inserted into the first grooves 14. Thereafter, the leading ends are respectively bent back slanted and the contact pins are thereby exposed in the coupling hole 12. The connection bar is then cut.
