Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimized ideal light output waveform in the integrated circuit of one chip integrated by a bipolar transistor by resetting the optimum current adding value by detecting the change of the semiconductor laser differential quantum efficiency due to the lapse of time when initializing. SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser controller 13 is provided by integrating a pulse width generator, data modifier 11, semiconductor laser controller and a driving part 12 as an integrated circuit 20 of one chip, and a part of the circuit is made into one chip by a bipolar transistor. A block for detecting the differential quantum efficiency of the semiconductor laser 1 and setting a voltage shift quantity is composed of a timing generator 31, a differential quantum efficiency detecting part 32, memory part 33 and an adding current setting part 34. Thus, the optimized ideal light output waveform is always obtained.
