Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a refrigerator in which its outer appearance can be improved and an effective volumetric efficiency can be expanded. CONSTITUTION: There are provided a main body side upper hinge plate 2 fixed to a main body 8 and arranged to be projected forwardly from a front surface positioned at either one of upper right and left sides of an opening edge of the main body 8, and a door side upper hinge plate 20 fixed to the door 5 and arranged to be projected rearwardly from one upper side of a rear surface of the door 5. The main body side upper hinge plate 2 and the door side upper hinge plate 20 are rotatably connected to each other.
