Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain a reproducing signal processing circuit and a magnetic recording and reproducing device using it enabling a high density magnetic recording by attaining the reducing of a decoding error. CONSTITUTION: The ideal waveform of a reproduced signal is generated by using a decoding result by a PRML channel in an estimation waveform generating circuit 32. The deviated waveform between the waveform and an actual reproducing signal is obtained by a subtractor 31. There is a high probability that error bits are generated at the interval of two bits or four bits due to the characteristics of a GCR code and a maximum likelihood decoding and states of errors of bits are that the bit of one side is added by one with respect to right bits and the bit signal of the other side is subtracted by one. Thus, the correction of error bits are performed in an error correcting circuit 43 by recognizing the pattern of the deviated waveform of errors in an error detecting circuit 41 and detecting the bit intervals of error in an error discriminating circuit 42.
