PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as a pest-controlling agent having excellent insecticidal and miticidal actions with a low dosage without giving any bad influence to mammals, fishes or beneficial insects. CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I (W is O or S; X, Y and Z are each a halogen, OH, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-6C haloalkyl, etc.; R and R are each H, a halogen, OH, etc.; R and R are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-6C haloalkyl, etc.; (1) is 0-5; (m) is 0-3; (n) is 1-5; etc.), e.g. 2-[1-(3- chlorophenyl)-2-(3-trifluoromethylpyrazo-1-lyl) ethylidene]-N-(4- trifluoromethoxyphenyl) hydrazine carboxamide. The compound of the formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III in a solvent (e.g. methanol) in the presence or absence of a catalyst (e.g. hydrochloric acid) at -60 deg.C to a refluxing temperature. The compound is effective for controlling pests of the order Orthoptera, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera, Isoptera, Acarina and Anoplura.
