Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the image input device in which highly accurate reading is made by dissipating a heat generated in a light source section efficiently so as to exclude a thermal effect in an image read space. CONSTITUTION: While an intake fan 34 is fitted to a left side plate corresponding to a cooling space 20 with a light source section 30 located therein, an exhaust fan 36 is fitted to a right side plate 6 opposite to the intake fan 34. Thus, the fan 34 introduces forcibly external air around the device to the cooling space 20 and supplied forcibly to the light source section 30, which is cooled and the air warmed by the light source section 30 is exhausted forcibly to the outside of the device by the exhaust fan 36. Thus, an air flow flowing in the order of the intake fan, the light source section and the exhaust fan is formed to cool the light source section effectively. Furthermore, a temperature rise in the image read space is effectively suppressed by the forced exhaust in the image read space by the aspiration effect and occurrence of filament of heat haze and occurrence of a warping of an original are prevented.
