Abstract PURPOSE: To enhance the printing quality by calculating temp. fluctuations at the time of the line recording of a thermal head from image data and controlling the heat value of the thermal head so as to suppress the temp. fluctuations. CONSTITUTION: A system controller detects the long cyclic fluctuations of glaze temp. Tg on the basis of the temp. detection signals TAL, Ta from respective temp. detectors and calculates the correction voltage value to a center voltage command value so as to eliminate the fluctuations. Quantity-of-heat data Q0 part a time is calculated from image data and a correction voltage value correcting a temp. fluctuation component due to a pattern is calculated from the quantity-of-heat data Q0 per a time. The fluctuations ΔQ of the quantity of heat Q appearing in the temp. fluctuations of a head temp. detector are minute in glaze as compared with an aluminum plate and can be estimated from the medium cyclic fluctuations of heat energy not appearing in the temp. detectors.
