PURPOSE:To use a thick paper of wide range for an ink jet printer by fixing a first paper guide at a position near an ink head, arranging a second paper guide at a remote position movably back and forth, arranging a feed means for feeding the paper by pinching it between the two paper guides, and providing a means for pressing the paper to the second paper guide. CONSTITUTION:Between a second paper guide 6 at the rear side of a printing paper 5 shown by a dotted line to be sent by paper feed rollers 4, 4-1 and a main body frame 10, a spring 7 is provided for pressing the rear face of the printing paper 5. Dependent on the thickness of the printing paper 5, the second paper guide 6 automatically moves to a side of a first paper guide 2 or to a side opposite to it. As the first paper guide 2 is fixed to the main body frame 10, a distance between the surface of the printing paper at the side of an ink head 1 and the ink head 1 becomes constant regardless of the thickness of the printing paper 5. As a result, constant print grade can be kept regardless of the thickness of the paper, paper jam does not occur even when a thick paper is used, and damage of equipment can be prevented.
