Abstract | PURPOSE:To advantageously produce a high density sintered product by specifying the ratio of the Mn content to the S content in Fe-base powder. CONSTITUTION:The ratio of the Mn content to the S content (Mn/S) in Fe-base powder for powder metallurgy is regulated to >=20, preferably >=50. The Mn content is generally <=about 0.4% and the S content is <=about 0.005%. The Fe-base powder is formed by atomization or other method and used as powder of <=about 500mum particle size. When the Fe-base powder is used, compacting density can be effectively increased. |
