Abstract | PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain alkenylnaphthalenes useful as a monomer for polymerization, an additive, etc., in high selectivity and yield by carrying out the oxidizing dehydrogenation of specific alkylnaphthalenes in the vapor phase in the presence of molecular oxygen using a specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing alkenylnaphthalenes is to carry out the oxidizing dehydrogenation of alkylnaphthalenes expressed by the formula (R and R' each is H or a 2-3C alkyl) such as 2-ethylnaphthalene, 2,6- or 2,7- diethylnaphthalene, 2-isopropylnaphthalene or 2,6- or 2,7-diisopropylnaphthalene in the vapor phase in the presence of molecular oxygen at 300-450 deg.C temperature using a catalyst such as a compound oxide comprising one or more elements selected from the group consisting of aluminum, iron and nickel, one or more elements selected from the group consisting of phosphorus and antimony and one or more elements selected from the group consisting of lithium, sodium, potassium rubidium and cesium. |
