Abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, comprising a specific norbornene derivative and a specified phenolic compound, capable of carrying out the polymerization at a sufficiently high polymerization conversion rate even after preservation for a long period, excellent in preservation stability and suitable as a raw material, etc., for transparent resins. CONSTITUTION:This composition comprises (A) a norbornene derivative expressed by formula I [R to R each is H, a halogen or a monovalent organic group; R and R or R and R together form a bivalent hydrocarbon; (m) is 0-21 such as 5-carboxymethylbicyclo[2.2.1]-2-heptene and (B) 10-10000ppm phenolic compound expressed by formula II [X and Y are each H or a 1-10C hydrocarbon; Z is H, a 1-10C hydrocarbon or a 1-20C organic group (except a 1-10C hydrocarbon)]. |
