Summary:PURPOSE:To correct an overscan and a square pixel distortion indepent of a kind, at adjustment condition and an adjustment function of a display device or an individual difference between individual products in the display device such as a CRT display, etc. CONSTITUTION:The image data for correction are generated by a pattern generation means 17 to be displayed on a CRT device 112, and an displayed image is observed by a camera means 111. Since the displayed image is known, a difference from the observed image is recognized by a recognition mean 110, and a correction value is obtained by a correction value calculation means 19, and the image stored in a frame memory 16 is subjected to the image processing of expansion/reduction, etc., in a digital signal processing means 15, and the image displayed on the CRT device 112 is corrected so as to becomes a required one.
