PURPOSE:To provide a washing machine which enables accurate control of the amount of water to be supplied with a stable construction. CONSTITUTION:A line of magnetic force is applied in a direction H almost orthogonal to a direction (v) of supplying water and electrodes 8 and 8 are arranged on a line almost orthogonal both to the direction H of the line of magnetic force and the water supply direction (v) to control the amount of water to be supplied based on outputs of the electrodes 8 and 8. In other words, an electromotive force is generated in a direction (e) in proportion to an average flow velocity of water based on the Fleming's right hand law and the electromotive force is obtained through the electrodes 8 and 8 thereby controlling the amount of water to be supplied.
