Abstract PURPOSE:To improve steering function by providing necking at a connection part between a strut and a flap rudder to reduce a negative peak pressure when a flap angle is increased and retard the generation of cavitation and resultant ventilation. CONSTITUTION:In the horizontal cross-section forms of a strut 3 and a flap rudder 4 in which the flap rudder 4 is connected rotatably to the rear of the strap 3 suspended from a hull, necking 7 is formed at a connection part 6 of these two so that the direction of a tangential line at the rear end of the strut 3 always crosses the flap rudder 4, or an aerofoil section independent of the strut 3 and flap rudder 4 is formed so that the virtual rear edge 3a of the strut is located ahead of the rear edge 4a of the flap rudder 4.
