Abstract | PURPOSE:To provide a novel low toxic compound useful for the therapy of infectious diseases caused by gram-positive or gram-negative bacteria, etc. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I (R is H, allyl; T is tetrahydrofuryl, 1,4-dioxanyl, 5-oxo-oxoranyl). For example, (1'R, 2''S, 5R, 6S)-6-(1'- hydroxyethyl)-2-(2''-tetrahydrofuranyl) penem-3-carboxylic acid allyl ester. The compound of formula I is obtained by heating a phosphorus.ylide compound of formula II (R is hydroxyl-protecting group; R is allyl, carboxyl-protecting group; Z is aryl) and, if desired, subsequently removing the protecting group from the produced compound of formula III. |
