Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic developer which obviates the fall of an image density, increases the image density, is hardly affected by an environmental change and can prevent the flow and disturbance of the image by incorporating a negative chargeable insulating toner contg. prescribed components, cerium particles having prescribed characteristics and pulverized silicon oxide particles subjected to a hydrophobing treatment into the developer. CONSTITUTION:The insulating magnetic dry developer which contains the negative chargeable insulating toner contg. at least a binder resin, magnetic material and zinc org. complex compd., the cerium oxide particles having 1.0-4.0mum volume mean grain size, <=0.5wt% heating loss up to 100 deg.C, and <=15m /g BET specific surface area by a gaseous nitrogen adsorption method and essentially consisting of CeO2 and the negative chargeable pulverized silicon oxide particles subjected to the hydrophobing treatment is pred. The amt. of the zinc org. complex compd. to be added is 0.1-10wt% per the weight of the binder resin. The contents of the cerium oxide particles and the pulverized silicon oxide particles are respectively 0.1-5 and 0.01-3pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. magnetic toner particles.
