Summary:PURPOSE:To provide the method for preventing electric spark from being generated when a steel plate is heated by an edge heater so that flaw is not generated by electric spark on the surface of the steel plate when both edge parts in the width direction of the steel plate are heated respectively locally by an induction heating type edge heater. CONSTITUTION:When the edge parts in the width direction of the steel plate 2 moving on a carrying roller 1 are heated locally by the induction heating type edge heater 3, a tapered roller is used as a carrying roller 1 of the edge heater 3 part and the tapered rollers are arranged alternately in the opposite direction. In this way, the tapered roller and the steel plate 2 cone into point contact with each other and electric spark generated by leakage of current flowing between the tapered roller and the steel plate 2 when the steel plate is heated by the edge heater 3 is prevented.
