PURPOSE:To easily and quickly perform work and to perform reading of an original with simple and inexpensive constitution by reading an original at desired inclination and position with high precision without performing pre-scan. CONSTITUTION:An original holder 20 is placed on a scanner preparatory sheet 22 by performing the position matching of the scanner preparatory sheet 22 with the original holder 20 by a positioning pin 32 and each positioning hole. The original 10 is placed on the original holder 20 by attaching inclination and a position according to instructions of the inclination and the position by the plotting 22B of the scanner preparatory sheet 22. The original 10 installed on the original holder 20 is read by a plane scan type scanner. Also, a dis-play device which displays the inclination and the position of the original on a screen can be used instead of the scanner preparatory sheet 22. Also, section paper 30 can be used with the scanner preparatory sheet 22. The positioning of the scanner preparatory sheet 22 with the original holder 20 can be performed by the positioning pin 32.
