PURPOSE:To secure favourable combustion in the whole of a combustion chamber by arranging each of suction ports so that extension of part of each of the suction ports positioned on the side of an ignition line against an axial line of the suction ports is overlapped each other below a spark plug in an internal combustion engine arranged with the spark plug in the central part of the inner wall surface of a cylinder head. CONSTITUTION:A pair of suction valves 5, 6 and a pair of suction ports 10, 11 are arranged point-symmetrically against the axial line of a cylinder, each of the suction ports 10, 11 is arranged so that intake air flow from each of the suction ports 10, 11 generates a spiral flow in the same direction as arounf the axial line of the cylinder in a combustion chamber, and a spark plug 9 is arranged in the central part of a cylinder head inner wall surface 3a. Thereafter, each of the suction ports 10, 11 is arranged so that extensions 10b, 11b of suction port parts 10a, 11a on the side of the spark plug 9 against an axial line (a) of the suction ports 10, 11 are overlapped each other below the spark plug 9. Consequently, strong turbulence is generated in the central part of the combustion chamber 4 and ignited flame quickly spreads in all directions and favourable initial combustion can be acquired.
